Outcomes Based Education

The three learning programmes for the foundation phase in education (Reception year to Grade 3) are Literacy, Numeracy and Life Skills:

Critical and specific outcomes have been identified and included in our curriculum to ensure the holistic development of each learner, eg:

To solve problems
To work in a group
To act responsibly
To acquire thinking skills
To communicate effectively
To develop culturally and aesthetically

The learning programme is child-centred and challenges the learners to use critical and creative thinking, to participate actively in the learning process using the whole of their bodies and all their senses, and to make their own discoveries.

In OBE learners show what they have learnt and parents are encouraged to become actively involved in their child's world of learning.
